Please find below the latest update on the ongoing road works.

Park Street Roundabout Improvements Works will start on 23 March 2026. A complex traffic management system will be installed over three nights being the 23rd, 24th and 25th March 2026, and will remain in place for the majority of time during the roundabout works. In order to carry out this work the Park Street Roundabout will be closed between 8.00pm - 6.00am on each of the three nights, with diversion routes in place and appropriate signage on the network.

Arrangements will be in place for emergency vehicles.

Overview

This notice covers the major highway and infrastructure works at Park Street Roundabout. There has been a significant amount of planning undertaken for this project and every effort has been made to find a reasonable balance between engineering and construction practicalities and minimising duration and disruption for road users and local residents. The works require a complete overhaul and remodelling of the Highway assets which can only be delivered with extensive peak, off‑peak and night time traffic management.

Scope of Works

The main activities include:

Installation of new deep drainage systems, including chambers, gullies, filter drains, and a large attenuation tank.

Utility ducting and diversions (Openreach, Cadent, UKPN and BPA).

Carriageway widening with new foundations, kerbs, and full tarmac construction.

Resurfacing works, including high‑friction surfacing and new road markings.

Installation of new traffic signals, detection loops, and associated cabling.

Footway upgrades including grassed areas, concrete paving, and tactile paving.

New permanent bollards and galvanised street lighting.
